This warranty is validated for galvinised steel and unilume coated by RMP (regular modified polyester) coil coating system for (10) years and also this warranty applies only to below warranty items.

Warranty Items

This warranty becomes effective when the paint film under the hereinafter stated condition is found to:

1. Peel, crack or check on the surface of coil coated sheet.
Any defect must be recognized by the naked eye investigation vertically from a distance of 2 meters. Defects for crazing or cracking that may occur from roll forming or sheet forming are not covered under this warranty.

2. Fade or change in color
Fading or changing is not excess of certain units described in the table 1 as determined in accordance with the procedure outlined in ASTM D2244-93 measured on the exposed pained surface which have been cleaned of external deposits (dirt, oil, grease, foreign material, oxidized film etc) and chalk per ASTMD3964. It is understood that fading or color changes may not be uniform if the surfaces are not equally exposed to the sun and elements.

3. Chalk
Chalk will not exceed numerical ratings (see table 1) when measured in accordance with the Standard procedure specified in ASTMD 4214-89.

4. Penetration
Pre-painted UNILUME is warranted against penetration by corrosion for 20 years after installation

Warranty conditions and terms

1. This warranty applies to goods used on metal buildings installed in (south africa)

2. This warranty is void if installed less than 1 km from marine or industrial environments unless expressly agreed by Union Steel (refer Table 2 for applying in other environments).

3 This warranty is void if the surface of the warranted material is scratched, abraded or damaged affecting the paint finish.

4. End user must wash down sheltered or areas unwashed by rain exposure on a regular monthly basis.

5. This warranty does not extend to peeling, checking, cracking caused by mechanical impact to the coated sheet and fracturing of metallic surface.

6. The warranty term regarding the fading and chalk of the paint is applicable to all colors used by JCP Steel Supplies in South Africa

7. This warranty will not cover the penetration due to the following causes:
(1) Damage to the coating due to the improper processing, transportation, handling or installation.
(2) Exposure in abnormal conditions: excessively polluted areas, excessively humid areas, tropical areas, in the vicinity of chemical or iron industry.
(3) Damage or failure which is occurring from natural disaster, fire, flood, explosion, falling stone, acts of war, riots.
(4) Failure to remove debris and/or failure to provide free drainage of water including internal condensation from all surfaces of the product.
(5) Installations subject to unusually corrosive environments at any time in the future.

8. Claims must be submitted within the guarantee period and within thirty / 30 days after discovering the defect. Purchaser must notify the defect contents to Union Steel in writing and give Union a reasonable opportunity to inspect the material.

9. Purchaser must provide Union steel 3 samples of defect mentioning coil No., product name and lot No., shipping date and end use.

10. This warranty is limited solely to the performance failure due to paint defects an the above mentioned warranty items.

11. In the event of any coating failure, Union's liability shall not in any event exceed the initial cost of the product which is specified in the contract between both parties.
